What was life like for you 10 years ago?
Good. I was living in Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay, doing lots of road racing.
Tell us about your career.
I have a job. I’ve peaked as a Cat 3 racer.
When was your first cx race and what was it like?
2011 or 2012. I lost a sprint to my frenemy and finished last.
It’s race day – what do you do to get ready?
Get dressed, chat, over-inflate my competitions tires.
Do you eat anything particular before a race?
Give us your best “Fred” moment (or just share your most embarrassing race moment).
I consider myself punctual. I missed a RR start by a few minutes due to a potty-break. I wound up hiding on the back side of the circuit and jumping into the bunch when they came by.
What’s the first thing you do after you cross the finish line?
Get something to drink. First water, then beer.
What are 2 things you’d like to improve upon this season?
My ability to respond to change of pace and bike handling.
What’s your favorite color on the PFM unicorn horn?
What’s the one piece of bike gear you can’t live without?
My Scott full finger gloves which just got destroyed by my dog.
What do you do when you’re not riding your bike or working?
Attending my kids soccer matches
